Where lies the difference?
Teeth means so much these days, almost for all and mostly concerning individuals. There are people with missing teeth who would not have enough Information to make the right choice of treatment.
Most people want an aesthetic smile with all their teeth intact. However, some feel this is not possible since they have been missing the tooth for so long and they have just become accustomed to it.
While many fear missing a front (anterior) teeth which is not pretty to look at and also it discontinues bitting, missing a back tooth is also troublesome.
These posterior teeth have an important role in chewing and grinding food.
Besides this, they also affect the overall bite and help ease some of the excessive pressure on the front teeth created by chewing.
Talking about the treatment options lying are either a dental implant, a dental bridge or a removable partial denture.
What is best for a missing tooth? An implant or a bridge?
We take as what is new, that is in fashion…somewhat true in this case too ;
With coming time dental implants have been possible in India to work on patients who contentedly wish for newer and best treatment with all the factors necessary under consideration.
Now, why is that a better option than a bridge?
Dental Implant are basically titanium posts which are placed surgically on to the jawbone for replacing either one or more than one teeth. It can also be used for complete dentures.
It has a strength as natural teeth roots with the anchorage of titanium and bone as they fuse together nicely then other material so far.
For any dental treatment to be successful the relative gums and underneath bone (periodontium (gingiva , cementum , periodontal ligament, and bone )are required to be healthy as the teeth itself. They act as a playback performers for teeth. Same as here, the implants takes care of the bone and vise-versa.
Every dental situation is unique. Even after that , there are chances of implants in some places where the bridges cannot be possible such as at the most posterior teeth which is a premolar or a first molar say it is the last teeth and patient is quite young and is not willing for a removable denture and bridge is quite impossible for that space.
If seen in the anteriors, mostly people loose the front tooth/teeth due to some trauma or accident where already there is need of special support than a bridge, which cannot be replaced by the same bitting force which is required, with time patient
loose hope for even that simple cause.
The jaw bone and the roots of a toothact as a simulation. This stimulates normal blood flow which regulates heathy jaw masses.
Without tooth roots, the lack of stimulation causes the bone to slowly decline (more of osteoclastic activity). This process is known as “resorption.”.
Resorption makes the gum ridges to flatten out over time.

About bridges !!
A dental bridge is a fixed dental prosthesis used to replace one or several missing teeth by permanently joining an artificial tooth to adjacent teeth or dental implants.
Pros of a dental bridge –
Many people opt for a dental bridge over a dental implant because the procedure is simple , and fast. In most cases, it can be easily completed in two visits, as compared to dental implant
The multiple unit bridges are more economical as compared to multiple implants.
CONS OF DENTAL BRIDGES-
- The abutment teeth is reshaped and is often necessary to remove significant amount of the the healthy tooth material to create room for the crown material to seat.
- More tendency of decaying due to removal of the healthy portion( enamel).
- Difficult in chewing or bitting with a pontic bonding with the abutment teeth, cannot have the same occlusal forces as compared to natural teeth or an implant supported teeth.
- Most importantly , loss of bone due to no support of the periodontium.
