The introduction of Precision attachment elevated the normal standards of partial denture in dentistry.
Precision system is a system which connects a removable partial denture to fixed bridgework or to the natural teeth. They are the functional parts of removable partial denture. They are positioned such that they are parallel to each other.
They are lightweight in nature and constructed from a strong metal alloy which eliminates all the discomfort occurring due to partial denture.
The clear definition would state precision attachment as:
Precision attachment is defined as an interlocking device, one component of which is fixed to an abutment or abutments and the other is integrated into a removable prosthesis to stabilize and or retain it according to GPT.
They consist of two parts referred as the ‘male’ part that is fixed to a crown inside the patient’s mouth and a ‘female’ part which holds the partial denture.
The patient is able to more comfortably and easily insert and remove the partial dentures.

- Used when the connection between the tooth and the implant has to be established.
CONTRAINDICATIONS

- High level of Patient’s comfort can be expected from this type of denture.
- It also compensates future changes in the tooth.
- The problem of loose fitting denture gets instantly solved.
- Further it enhances the retention, stability and support of the denture.
When fixed prosthesis is contraindicated precision attachment partial denture comes into play. It provides retention which is similar to fixed partial denture.
