What do you understand by Lingual braces?
You must be aware of what braces are and what they are used for, or atleast must have seen someone wearing a wire like appliance on their teeth.
Braces are traditionally placed on the labial or frontal surface of the teeth.
Whereas, lingual braces are placed lingually or on the back surface of the teeth.
They are invisible hence highly demanded by the patients.
What are lingual braces?
Lingual braces are nothing but a modification in the method of application of orthodontic braces.
The brackets, wires and elastic bands are cemented on your teeth to realign them
They are placed on the backside or lingual surface of your teeth.
Case selection for lingual braces.
Not everyone is eligible to wear lingual braces. There are some exceptions.
We are experienced dentists analyze and decide whether the treatment of choice is feasible or not.
First of all the height and width of the teeth should be adequate, therefore it is not advisable in young patients such as children below the age of 15 years.
Another exception is patients having wrong bite such as a deep bite, and then lingual braces won’t be a choice of treatment by the dentist as that may not give the desired results.
ADVANTAGES
1. They are invisible
